Fifteen years ago today, Eric Crouch won the Heisman Trophy.Technically, Eric Crouch won the 2001 Heisman Trophy in December of that year, but really, he won it on Oct. 27, 2001, in a game against Oklahoma.Nebraska topped the Sooners, 20-10, in a matchup of two top-three games at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.The game – and the Heisman – was won on a 63-yard catch – yes, catch – by Crouch, the Huskers’ star quarterback. The play was “Black 41 Flash Reverse.” Crouch remembered it on Twitter today.Hard to believe it has already been 15 years… Thanks #HuskerNation for making this moment so special! #GBR #Black41FlashReverse pic.twitter.com/hePzCpRThX— Eric Crouch (@croucheric) October 27, 2016Nebraska football really hasn’t been the same since that game. The Huskers went on to make the national championship game that year, but were blown out by Miami. Nebraska has yet to make it back to a BCS/College Football Playoff game. The Huskers are potentially taking some steps back toward eliteness this year. Nebraska is undefeated and ranked No. 7 in the country. A win this weekend could supplant their College Football Playoff contention.Nebraska and Wisconsin are set to kick off at 7 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
