Young musicians invited to compete WHITTIER – Applications are being accepted for the 38th annual Young Artists Competition at Whittier College on Feb. 5. Vocalists through the age of 30 and string players through the age of 26 can apply before Jan. 12 to participate in the competition, which will distribute cash prizes of $1,500 to winners. Winners will also participate in the Rio Hondo Symphony orchestra’s “Festival Finale” concert May 7. Submit applications with a $35 fee and self-addressed stamped envelope no later than Jan. 12.
