Protocol building to be completed in 2018

first_imgThe Foreign Affairs Ministry’s $5.57 billion current and capital expenditure estimates were approved on Thursday by the Committee of Supply.Foreign Affairs Minister Carl Greenidge noted that monies would go towards the completion of the Protocol and Consular Affairs Department, formerly the Ramphal House.Construction began in 2017 on the new structure following the dismantling of the building located on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive. The newly-constructed building is intended to improve the accommodation and operational efficiency of the department.Meanwhile, allocations have also been made for the construction of a Guyana Embassy in Brazil, a move that Opposition Chief Whip Gail Teixeira welcomed. Allocations are also provided for the procurement of vehicles, furniture and equipment for overseas missions and embassies.last_img
