The position involves clinical care, research, andteaching medical students and neurology residents. You’ll join arenowned team of physicians and researchers making an extraordinarydifference in the lives of our patients. We do so by recruiting some of the finestphysicians from across the country – men and women who are oftenrecognized leaders in their specialty or subspecialty; investingheavily in new technology; practicing – and frequently developing –the latest techniques and placing the highest emphasis on achievinggreat quality outcomes. Candidates will join an active teamincluding neurologists, neuropathologists, and physical,occupational, and speech therapists for collaboration in the areasof patient care, research and education.The West Virginia University Rockefeller NeuroscienceInstitute, led by Dr. Ali Rezai, is expanding to include theclinical, research, and academic missions of Neurosurgery,Neurology, and Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, among others.The Institute will spearhead efforts to develop innovativesolutions for West Virginians and those across the world withneurological and psychiatric conditions ranging from Alzheimer’s toParkinson’s; autism to stroke; and paralysis to chronic pain,addictions, and traumatic brain injury. The Department ofNeurology offers patients a full spectrum of innovativetherapies for neurologic disease, including stroke, epilepsy,neuromuscular diseases, headache, immunology, and movementdisorders. WVU is a Joint Commission approved Comprehensive StrokeCenter and Level IV Epilepsy Center.We seek applicants who hold MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (foreigneducational equivalent accepted) with epilepsy fellowship trainingor experience at the time of employment, strong clinical skills,interest in clinical research programs and commitment to oureducational mission. For appointment at the Associate Professor orProfessor rank, it is expected that candidates sustain anoutstanding, extramurally supported research program anddemonstrate a track-record of leadership, excellent communicationskills, and publications in high-impact journals are required.
